Dear Diary,

I added a theme. Pretty crazy, right? I didn't actually had a theme in mind while making this website. I just knew I wanted to make a website. The first theme that I thought of was something cute like my tumblr. The aesthetic of the pink opened tabs with cute buttons made me giddy. I liked it. But also I liked the color brown and in light of the university patterns I got into, the color green. I knew I wanted both of those colors, but I realized people might find that ugly. The color of poop and stereotypical vomit. I like both brown and green though. They're the colors of trees, mostly.

During the shenanigans of 2020 and the whole saga of COVID, I had a life-changing experience. Not just because of COVID, but because I just graduated and experienced college for the first time. I socialized with a bunch of the regular netizens of writing.com anonymously. I made friends. I was at the peak of my creativity as I wrote essays, short stories, and even participated in poetry contests. The UI of WDC was simple and yet so elegant. It was at that time that I realized I really liked the color brown.

Patterns are everything. Well, maybe just the system the universe follows. My color preferences seem to be part of the receiving end. I'm part of groups of academic people. I hop from one group to another, and they all have one thing in common. No-not the fact their mascots are animals--one is of an archer. No, what they have in common is that all of them are green. I'm not one to fight with fate so on the last academic group I joined, I just accepted it. I used to see green as this "color that I would probably just not use. ever." As you can see from the theme or aesthetic, I can't precisely predict the future.

The problem in creating this website was that I wasn't creative enough (or maybe just too lazy) to make the original theme I thought of while preserving the main colors of brown and green. You know, the cute-sy stuff like in my tumblr. Checking the html file of that theme, I realized I had to learn so many things before I become satisfied, whereas in this hacker aesthetic (which is also fitting because I'm a Cybersecurity major), I can just make the text green, add a little glow, have a black background, add the retro lines and voila! I'm done. I can enjoy having a functioning website while I learn at my own pace, reading through the books and coding help websites. It's awesome.

I guess what I'm trying to say is... I like the theme and my color choice. Also I'm lazy, or atleast want to know what I'm capable of first before doing the heavy lifting.

Yours sincerely,

Sunder
